This week we celebrate National School Counseling Week! Each day, we will highlight one of our amazing counselors who provides our students and staff with support, compassion and extraordinary passion for what they do. Mrs. Detra Jones is the counselor for Quitman Elementary School. Counselor Jones has been a Brooks County Trojan and counselor at Quitman Elementary School for 30 years!!! We love that Counselor Jones is a lifelong Trojan!!! Mr. Price, Principal of Quitman Elementary School, shared, "When you think of Quitman Elementary School, you should immediately think of Counselor Jones. She is the heart of our school, going above and beyond for our students, staff, and community every single day. Her dedication, compassion, and unwavering support make a lasting impact on everyone she meets. QES would not run as smoothly without her, and we are forever grateful for the passion and care she pours into our school. On behalf of the entire QES family, we want to wish her a very Happy School Counselors Week! We hope she knows just how much she is appreciated today and every day." Counselor Jones stated she loves being a school counselor because "I get to see kids face problems and grow emotionally, socially, and academically. I also love being the trusted adult that children turn to for support which, in return, creates deep and meaningful connections. I take pride in fostering an environment where every child feels valued, celebrated, and empowered to appreciate differences and build empathy." She also shared she has loved being in Brooks County because of the community and lasting relationships she has built as a Trojan. 🎓 Pledge 2 Graduate: Committing to Success! 🎓 Brooks County Schools students in the Classes of 2028, 2030, and 2033 took a powerful step toward their futures by signing their Pledge 2 Graduate banners! 🙌 These 4th, 7th, and 9th graders made a public commitment to graduate on time with their class, setting their sights on success from an early age. From specialized sessions tackling today’s educational challenges to networking with like-minded educators, our team gained valuable insights, best practices, and lasting professional connections. 💡✨ They also visited fully implemented Leader in Me schools, bringing back inspiration and strategies to further empower our students!

📢Great Morning, Trojan Nation!! 🎉🏆Congratulations to our very own BCMS Lady Trojan basketball player Brooklyn Hall for winning the regional Elks HoopShoot this weekend. By making 19/25 free throws, she earned the right to compete at the state level February 22nd. 🎉⚾Congratulations to our BCMS Baseball team for its 13-3 season-opening win over Lowndes. This season aims to be an exciting one for our MS Baseball program! 🎉🏀👧Congratulations to our BCHS Lady Trojan Basketball team for 4 MONSTER wins last week. Beating Clinch Co, Lanier Co, Echols Co, and Irwin Co, their record sits at 17-2 overall, including 9-0 in the region! ⚠This week will see our varsity basketball teams play 5 games...4 on the road and the final regular-season home game this Saturday. Make it a point to come out and cheer them on before they hit the region and state tournaments!! 🎉🏈We will celebrate the occasion of Marquis Williams and Chris Cole signing to continue their academic and athletic careers at the next level this Wednesday at 10:00 am in the BCHS PAC.
