Dr, Cisco Diaz

Dr. Cisco Diaz has been a dedicated part of the Brooks County School District for seven years. Before moving to the district office, he spent six years as the principal of Quitman Elementary, where he worked closely with students, staff, and families to create a positive learning environment. With over 20 years of experience in education—15 of those in leadership roles—Dr. Diaz has a wealth of knowledge and a strong passion for supporting schools. He began his career as a seventh-grade life science teacher and later served as the principal of W.G. Nunn Elementary in Valdosta, GA, for five years before joining Brooks County.

In his current position, Dr. Diaz oversees the Teaching & Learning Department, serves as the Federal Programs Director, and leads initiatives like GaLEADS and Leader in Me, helping to drive continuous growth and success in the district.

Dr. Diaz and his wife, Laura, have been happily married for 20 years. Laura works as a school psychologist for the Brooks County School District, and together they have two wonderful children. Their daughter, Riley, is pursuing nursing at Georgia College & State University, while their son, Aiden, is set to graduate this year and plans to join his sister at Georgia College next fall.

When they aren’t busy with work or family, Dr. Diaz and his wife enjoy traveling, trying out local coffee shops, and finding great Italian restaurants. In his downtime, Dr. Diaz loves watching Georgia football and working in the yard.

Ross New

Ross New is starting his fifth year as part of the Brooks County School District family.  This is his forty eighth year in education.  He has taught, coached and been an administrator in West Virginia, Florida and Georgia.  Mr. New has worked as a Teacher, Head Football Coach, Wrestling Coach, Basketball Coach, Head Track Coach and Athletic Director. Ross has also been an Elementary School, Middle School, and High School Principal. Before coming to Brooks County, Ross served as a Director of Operations for Thomasville City Schools.

In Mr. New's current position as Deputy Superintendent he oversees all District Operations as well as being Human Resource Director and Tribunal Hearing Judge.  

Mr. New and his wife Nancy have been married 47 years and have four children.  Joshua is a CPA in Perry, Georgia. Jeremy is a teacher and coach in Ringgold, Georgia. Jessica is a teacher at Berrien County Primary School and Jamie is a teacher and coach at Lowndes County High School.
