At the Brooks County Schools Board of Education meeting held on January 12, 2021, a resolution was presented to name the new softball field being constructed on the campus of Brooks County High School the Coach Libby Parrish field. The resolution passed unanimously. A ribbon cutting will be held when the field is ready. The resolution is as follows:
Whereas: Coach Linda “Libby” Parrish served the children of Brooks County Schools as a devoted and loyal employee for thirty-four years;
Whereas: Coach Parrish faithfully and selflessly served in the classroom, transportation and athletic arenas;
Whereas: Coach Parrish was instrumental in starting and building the tradition of the softball program in Brooks County;
Whereas: Coach Parrish had a profound impact and positive influence on thousands of Brooks County students as a classroom teacher, coach and mentor;
Whereas: Coach Parrish was loved by her students;
Whereas: Coach Parrish served as a model for colleagues to work together as a team to achieve student academic success;
Whereas: Coach Parrish emulated examples of sacrifice, motivation, courage, humor, kindness, energy and graciousness.
Therefore: We, Brooks County Board of Education President, Larry Cunningham, Brooks County Schools Superintendent, Dr. Vickie Reed, and Board of Education members do hereby deem it an honor and a pleasure to proclaim that Coach Parrish is an exemplar of Trojan Pride, will always and forever be a Trojan and as such officially name the new softball field in her memory. As of January 12, 2021, the newly constructed softball field located on the campus of Brooks County High School will be named and now known as the Coach Libby Parrish Field.
