Congratulations to Ms. Tartaglia, Ms. Arrendale, and Ms. Spencer from North Brooks Elementary School! They were awarded a Bright Ideas grant from Colquitt EMC.
Ms. Tartaglia will be using the Bright Ideas grant funds to plant a butterfly garden. She wants to beautify this area with a garden and a bench for teachers to take their small groups out for reading.
Ms. Arrendale will be purchasing additional sensory equipment for North Brooks Elementary. Her goal is to have Montessori toys and equipment to help meet their sensory needs. For example: Montessori toys and equipment to help students with pressure and anxiety needs.
Ms. Spencer has plans to implement the Brooks Cares Bags. The BCB will be distributed to all students within the Brooks Co. district (ages 4-16 years old) on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The bags will include a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, a bag of chips, a drink, and a snack. To encourage literacy, the bags will also contain a book for students to enjoy while at home.
