☀️We are excited to welcome all of our Trojans back from Spring Break tomorrow! We hope everyone had time to relax and rest. We are ready to conquer the rest of the semester together! 💪🔴⚪🔵 Tomorrow a total solar eclipse will pass over North America. During a total solar eclipse, the Moon completely blocks the Sun, causing the sky to become unusually dark during the daytime. We will not be in the total eclipse path in Brooks County. Our area will only experience a partial solar eclipse between 1:44 p.m. and 4:18 p.m., with the sky becoming darkest at the peak of 3:02 p.m. School operations, including check-in and check-out procedures, will continue as normal. Recognizing the importance of safety during this event, especially since it coincides with our dismissal time, teachers and staff will make every effort to keep students indoors until dismissal to limit opportunities for students to look directly at the eclipse. Therefore, we encourage parents to talk to their children about safety precautions during the eclipse. Parents who wish to check their child out of school early may do so. Early checkouts will be excused. Please follow the school’s early check-out procedures. Please emphasize the importance of NOT looking directly at the sun to your child. We encourage our families to review additional informative resources such as NASA Solar Eclipse Safety and The Great American Annular Eclipse of the Sun.

Trojan Nation - This morning we accepted Coach Freeman's unexpected resignation/retirement as Head Football Coach of Brooks County High School. As a dedicated member of our school community, Coach Freeman has contributed significantly to the football program, students, and community during his tenure. We all wish him the best as we know he will continue to #BringThatHammer in his future endeavors. Coach Josh McFather will lead the program on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is named. Thank you for your years of service and all the great memories, Coach Freeman. Go Trojans!!

Good eveneing BCHS Families, In light of the recent social media interest, we contacted Universal and begged them to allow us to bring our seniors. Luckily, they are allowing us to participate on our originally selected date of April 19th. However, we have a very small window for students to sign up and pay. It will cost $150 per senior, who is on track to graduate with no major disciplinary issues. Permission slips will be provided tomorrow, March 22, during advisement. We need all interested seniors to turn in their permission slips and money to Dr. Chastain by the end of the school next Wednesday, March 27th. Tentative Itinerary for April 19th: 10:00 am Depart BCHS 4:00 pm Enter Universal 2:00 am Depart Universal 6:00 am Arrive at BCHS

Our BCHS art students explored Faith Ringgold's beautiful art, taking inspiration from her colorful story quilts and the inspiring story of "Tar Beach" to celebrate differences, emphasize being creative, and remember how important it is to treat everyone the same, no matter what. 🌈🖌️ Thank you Ms. Akins for allowing our students to explore history through art connections!📚

We're thrilled to announce that our very own board member, Dr. Thomas, is volunteering in our BCHS math classes! 📚 Not only did she lend her expertise, but she also brought some extra motivation along the way. 🛠️ Dr. Thomas handed out green hammers to those students who absolutely crushed their Geometry test! 🔢💯 These students are truly "bringing the hammer" academically in math, and we couldn't be more proud of their dedication and hard work. Keep shining, math stars! 🌟 👏 Let's also give a round of applause to Ms. Burns. She also received a well-deserved green hammer for her willingness to step outside her comfort zone to try some new strategies! 🔨🏆 You truly deserve this recognition! 🌟
